Repair or Replace?
Why replace your air conditioning system?
Older, inefficient units purchased before 1 January 2004 will attract costly repairs. In the longer term they are far more expensive to run than replacing with a modern “A” Label energy efficient model.
These systems may still be repaired by us as long as the manufacturers support them with technical information and spare parts.
1st January 2010 is the scheduled phase out date for the use of virgin HCFC R22 gas refrigerants that older systems use for the cooling medium (or refrigerant).
This means that if any of your equipment contains HCFC refrigerant and a leak occurs, it will only be able to be recharged with virgin HCFC refrigerant until 1 January 2010.
There are replacement ‘drop in’ refrigerants which we can use to keep the system in operation should a leak occur, however we would advise that now may be a good time to consider budgeting for replacements.
For assistance with budgeting for future replacements please call us – we are here to help you.
